Farmhouse-style preschool in Los Feliz with a natural approach to education
What is Little Paws?
We are a farmhouse-style preschool serving children ages 2-6. Our schoolhouse offers a complete Montessori program, proudly unique in its:
- 1:3 ratio of teachers to students
- introduction of nature’s rhythms into daily activities
Our goal at Little Paws is to allow each child to develop at his or her own pace, with the presence of nature and loving teachers to guide and support.
What/who is Montessori?
Dr. Maria Montessori was the first female doctor in Italy. She began to work with children, and quickly identified “sensitive periods” within a child’s life during which time a child is sensitive to the development of certain skills. She observed that a child learns each skill best in isolation of other skills with real-life applications and increasing difficulty and repetition. She also advocated “following the child”; that is, giving the right lesson at the right time and allowing the child to participate in his/her own progress.
Where are we?
We are located in Franklin Village, nestled between Los Feliz and Hollywood Hills, conveniently near the 101 and I-5.
Little Paws is a team of experienced, nurturing educators led by Miss Faith, who served as lead teacher at two Montessori schools in Los Angeles before starting Little Paws. She earned her BA in English and Art History at UVA, her Masters in Child Psychology at UCLA, and is completing her AMS Montessori Credential at Montessori Teachers Academy in Monarch Bay.
Miss Rutha is so happy to be joining this amazing team at Little Paws Montessori School. She has worked as a teacher for a little over 8 years now. During her time as an educator, she has taught a variety of ages, ranging from preschoolers to adults. Miss Rutha studied early childhood development in Sweden, where she grew up. Educating children is her passion and she loves playing a supporting role in their development.
Miss Elizabeth-Ann has always had a keen interest in a variety of different learning styles. Her passion is to inspire children to love nature. She comes to us with a background in the Montessori/Reggio Emilia methods and in Floral Design. "We should use nature to inspire children... the beauty and calmness in all." With her positive and enthusiastic spirit, she is excited for the school year to begin and cannot wait to meet everyone.
Ms Lopez has taught as a lead Montessori teacher for 5 years, working with both toddler and primary ages. She loves the season of Fall, all things Halloween, and Disneyland. She can quote any Disney movie. She is a loving mom to Sofia (7) and Richie (3).
Teaching is what helps a child grow. It's spectacular to see a child grow mentally and to be there to guide and open doors for them. We are teaching the future of America. I’ve been working with children for 5 years and have learned so much and still am. I have worked at a state school, traditional school and Montessori.
